Oculus VR’s Herobound: Spirit Champion Hits Gear VR

One of the original launch titles for the first version of the Gear VR smartphone-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) was Herobound: First Steps from Oculus VR itself. The sample experience was a third-person dungeon crawling title that players could sample for free. It wasn’t clear what would become of the videogame in the future. That is until this week, when Oculus VR has released a full sequel to the title in Herobound: Spirit Champion.


Available on Gear VR now, Herobound: Spirit Champion is developed by Gunfire Games LLC, a Texas-based studio comprised of former Crytek and Vigil Games developers. The sequel allows players to choose an avatar and then explore four different realms at they free captive spirits. New powers will be granted to the player with each freed spirit. Eventually the player will be powerful enough to confront the title’s antagonist, the Spirt of Fire.

The sequel is in fact another free experience that weighs in at weighs in at 335.76MB. GearVR.uk will continue to follow the latest releases for the Gear VR, reporting back with the latest on them.
