Price Revealed For UK Gear VR

Gear VR S6

Whilst no date has yet been revealed for the Samsung Gear VR in the UK and no pre-orders are as yet being taken, unlike some other European territories, e do at least have an idea of what UK residents will have to pay for the Oculus backed smart phone-based head mounted display (HMD).

According to VRFocus the price is to be £79.99 GBP, this was confirmed at last week’s VRTGO event in Newcastle by Samsung’s Jason Lovell. One thing that should be made clear however is that this is for the base HMD only and does not include any compatible smart phone which, unless you are already a possessor of one, will be a required separate purchase. Compatible devices for the Gear VR are the Samsung Galaxy S6 along with the S6 edge and S6 edge plus as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Whilst the date is still in question there are several new games and experiences coming out for release including Bandit Six: Salvo, Land’s End and Dead Secret to name but three. We’re expecting with the confirmed American release coming soon to have a number of news updates very soon about the Gear VR. GearVR.UK will be following everything and will bring you updates as soon as we can.

  1. For a product that’s been ‘released’ the availability to purchase it is non-existent.

Currently you can only buy it in the UK from Samsung and they are out of stock themselves. This seems like they rushed the release without supply-lines in place.

It’s very frustrating – even when Microsoft did this with the Xbox and Apple with the iPhone you could still count on finding stock somewhere within a couple of days.
